Winto.klong - Singer-Songwriter Festival

The Gustav Mahler Cultural Centre in Dobbiaco is the venue for the festival of “handmade music”

The Euregio Cultural Centre in Dobbiaco: Once a hotel and a meeting place for the nobility, artists and composers in the late 19th century, today it is a building where music resounds and festivals take place. One of these is the Winto.klong Festival, a contest for singer-songwriters involving a pre-selection, finalists and awards. The highlight is the "Singer-Songwriter Evening".

Singer-songwriters from South Tyrol, Tyrol and Trentino are invited to participate with original compositions in German, Italian or Ladin. From all applicants, an expert jury selects six participants who can attend the workshop and the "Singer-Songwriter Evening" in Dobbiaco in late January. Prizes include, among other things, a day in a recording studio or the production of a professional music video. Distinct voices encounter different moods and diverse tones here.

The 2026 edition was special: Under the motto "Best of", the most defining singer-songwriters of recent years and several finalists from past editions were gathered. Musicians such as Annika Borsetto, who dedicates herself to pop, folk and jazz, the Ladin duo Gota, known beyond the borders, Sepp Messner Windschnur with his famous dialect music, and the Bolzano singer-songwriter Chiara Veronese appeared on the stage there.

However, music is also of great importance at other locations and dates in Dobbiaco: the Gustav Mahler Composing Hut is located in Carbonin Vecchia, the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival takes place in June, and the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks are held from July to September.
