Hike to the Lipp Tavern in Predonico

Spring hike from the fruit orchards in the Valle dell’Adige valley through the forest to Castel d’Appiano and further on to Predonico: The Lipp tavern is located nearby

Riva di Sotto (Unterrain), a small village in the Valle dell'Adige valley between Andriano and San Paolo Appiano, is the starting point of our spring hike to Predonico and the Lipp tavern which offers a fantastic view on Merano, its surroundings and the Dolomites.

We follow the path no. 12A past the Hubertuskeller and across the apple orchards. Through the deciduous forest we reach Castel d'Appiano (Hocheppan). The trail no. 12 proceeds to the hamlet of Predonico. On a sunny place, only 10 minutes from Predonico, we reach our destination: the Lipp tavern. The view opens up on the Valle dell'Adige valley, the towns of Merano and Bolzano and the surrounding mountains as well as on the Tessa Group, the Sarentino Alps and the Dolomites in the distance.

Instead of heading back along the same route, we follow the path no. 2A downhill across steep terrain. Continuing our hike on the paths no. 2 and 12A we finally turn back to Riva di Sotto.
