Every year the Ridanna sports club organises the well-known Ridanna cross-country skiing run (Ridnauner Volkslauf in German, Gran Fondo di Ridanna in Italian). The first edition of this tradition-rich cross-country ski race in the Upper Valle Isarco took place in 1987, more than 30 years ago. Now it is held every year on the first Sunday in March, before spring is arriving.
Everyone can participate, from hobby athletes to pros. The distances are either 25 km (skating style) with an own track for the classical style, or 6 km (Juniorsprint) for young cross-country skiers. New, however, is the "Just for fun" category. Until the thirtieth edition also the marathon distance of 42 km - removed in the meantime - was part of the event. A real sports festival!
