For one day in late spring, between the end of May and the beginning of June, the exquisite Valle Isarco white wines are celebrated at various tasting stations in the Capuchin Garden of Chiusa. It is located at the southern end of Chiusa, in front of the Chiusa Municipal Museum.
Grape varieties such as Müller-Thurgau, Green Veltliner, Riesling, Kerner, and Gewurztraminer grow in the southern Valle Isarco, on the slopes below the Alpe di Siusi area and in the region around Chiusa. The event features the finest wines from estates ranging from the southern Valle Isarco to the Novacella Abbey near Bressanone, which cultivates its own vines and produces wine.
The event is called "Sabiona", named after the Sabiona Monastery which towers high above Chiusa. On this Friday, various tasting stations await you until late in the evening, with one stand usually reserved for Valle Isarco sparkling wine. Last year, the festival was replaced by the "Ban Winzer" event, but the Valle Isarco White Wine Festival will take place again in 2026.
