Winter hiking path and sledge run Malga Costa

The Malga Costa mountain hut, accessible on a forest path starting from the Rio Nero near Nova Ponente, enchants with a cosy atmosphere and a wonderful view on the surrounding mountains.

Our winter hike starts at the small parking space at the bend along the road from the Val d'Ega valley to the village of Nova Ponente (Deutschnofen), located between the Hotel Schwarzenbach and the Hotel Ganischgerhof. The Bajerlsäge forest road leads us uphill and - near the Rio di Gola brook (3 km) - to the other side of the valley.

After a sharp left turn the path proceeds straight up to the Malga Costa mountain hut (Lieg Alm) at 1,740 m a.s.l. Soon the forest clears and we reach the lovely mountain hut located along the Lavazè Pass cross-country ski track. The hut offers local dishes. You can either turn back into the valley by foot or by sledge (if brought along).

Information: Since the 2019/2020 season, the described trail can no longer be tobogganed for safety reasons. You will therefore have to walk downhill as well!
