Winter hiking path and sledge run Alpe di Luson

Especially in winter, the Alpe di Luson attracts a large number of people who love outdoor activities in a charming scenery

The idyllic Luson Alp (Lüsner Alm) is our destination on this day in February. The sky is still covered with cirrostratus clouds, but the weather forecast foresees better conditions in the course of the day. By car we reach the parking space Tulper Gampis near Luson, where the toboggan run leads the way up to the idyllic Luson Alp. Also one of the cross-country ski tracks of the area passes by the parking space. With our sledge, we tackle the first ascent.

After a 40-minutes' walk we reach the high-altitude plateau, surrounded by the Luson Mountains and providing a great view on the entire mountain pasture. We enjoy the solitude in this place on this winter morning. Afterwards we follow the signpost leading to the Starkenfeld Mountain Hut (Starkenfeldhütte), from where we decide to walk on to the Lasta Mountain Hut (Astalm).

Once we reached this place we enjoy the sun on in the open. After a short stop we continue our walk, back to the Starkenfeld Mountain Hut. This time we follow the signposts to the Rastner Mountain Hut, where we stop to enjoy a delicious lunch. Last but not least, we enjoy sledging the way back down to the starting point on one of the toboggan runs in the part of South Tyrol.
