Winter hike from Mt. Pichlberg to the Getrum Mountain Hut

A leisurely excursion with a beautiful view on the Dolomites in the midst of the peaceful Sarentino alpine landscape

We take the cable car from San Martino in the Sarentino Valley to Pichlberg (2,128 m a.s.l.), the starting point of our winter hike. Here we follow signpost no. 11 towards the Getrum Mountain Hut (Getrumalm). The wide forest path is slightly sloping, only for a few metres it ascends. We are accompanied by a unique panoramic view on the surrounding mountains.

The view falls on the striking peaks of the Dolomites, such as the Odle Group, the Sella Group, Mt. Sassolungo and Mt. Sasso Piatto, Mt. Sciliar, the Catinaccio Group and the Latemar Massif. Without much effort we reach the Getrum Hut (1,568 m a.s.l.) after an hour, where we stop for a break.

Afterwards we start our way back and choose path no. 7, which leads down to the valley station of the Reinswald Skiing Area. Alternatively, the way back can be done on the outward route, reaching the starting point again by the cable car. Tip: A limited number of sledges can be rented for a downhill run at the hut. Afterwards they can be returned at the ski rental at the valley station.
