Campo Tures Cheese Festival

For 15 years now, it has been impossible to imagine the Tures and Aurina Valleys without the Cheese Festival (Käsefestival or Festival del Formaggio). There, where you can find several farm cheese dairies which produce excellent South Tyrolean mountain cheese for the traditional Marende and the low-fat grey cheese called "Graukas", everything revolves around the different types of cheese on the 3rd weekend in March. Campo Tures becomes a cheese and gourmet market with many exhibitors from half of Europe. Cheese in all possible variations can be tasted, enjoyed and bought - among the exhibitors there are direct marketers as well as sellers.

The festival area is built up around the pavilion in the village centre. The supporting programme of the Cheese Festival also includes show cooking in the cooking arena with young South Tyrolean talents and established top chefs, the Gourmet Laboratories - guided tastings with simultaneous translation - and the children's programme, where the young visitors can try to produce cheese and chocolate. Parallel to the event, numerous restaurants in the valley offer so-called "Speciality Days". Do you want more cheese? Every year in September there are the "Graukäse" Cheese Days in the Valle Aurina with the GrauKäseFestival in Cadipietra, 12 km into the valley.
