Chocolate lovers should save the last weekend in August: That’s when everything revolves around this delightful product
The ingredients of chocolate have a slightly mood-enhancing and stimulating effect on the organism - enjoyed in moderation, chocolate is a guarantee for feelings of happiness. Monguelfo in the Val Pusteria is also a fan of this delicacy and has been dedicating an entire weekend to chocolate at the end of August for more than a decade. There is chocolate in all variations: liquid and solid, bittersweet and white, as a praline and as a bar, with pepper and with wild berries.
To ensure that everyone gets their money's worth, there is also a children's programme with craft stations, painting, interactive games and face painting, as well as entertainment with live music and folk dance groups. If anyone is unable to come along, there is a large selection of souvenirs in various shapes, sizes and flavours, all made of chocolate at the Schokolade Festival Welsberg.
The festival takes place on the main square in the village centre. Admission is free. By the way: South Tyrol also has its first certified chocolate sommeliere, Julia Kofler.
