Winter in the Val Venosta invites you to a gentle hike from Lake San Valentino alla Muta to Piavenna - toboggan run included

It has snowed in the last few days, creating the perfect conditions to combine a light hike with friends and a toboggan run. The destination of our winter hike is the mountain village of Piavenna in one of the side valleys of Malles Venosta. We plan 45 minutes for the hike - the descent by toboggan is much faster afterwards - and also promises fun.
Our starting point lies slightly above the "Case dei Pescatori" or "Fischerhäuser" district near San Valentino alla Muta. The settlement above Lake San Valentino alla Muta offers parking facilities and a bus stop. A quiet hike through an open, snow-covered landscape up to Piavenna now awaits us. The altitude difference is small, at around 200 metres.
We reach Piavenna (Plawenn) after three-quarters of an hour - or faster with a brisk pace. The surrounding slopes are called "Plawennen", while the village itself is grouped around the Piavenna Manor, which sits majestically amidst the winter landscape. We now prepare for the descent, having brought our toboggans with us: We head downhill on a natural track, sometimes gently, sometimes a bit more briskly down the slope. Our laughter can be heard from afar.
We soon see Lake San Valentino alla Muta (Haidersee) before us again, and our starting point is reached once more. The combination of exercise, nature experience and tobogganing is also ideal for an afternoon or a spontaneous trip. Bring a toboggan, as there is no rental service.
