Winter walk at the foot of the Catinaccio

From Passo Carezza to the Tre Baite and the “Sentiero delle Perle”. A short winter walk at the south west slopes of the Catinaccio mountains.

At the beginning of December we do our first winter walking tour for this season. At the Passo Carezza (top of the pass), we follow the signpost n° 548, leading us the way across the forest towards the Catinaccio mountains. In the fresh snow, it is not really easy to follow the path. It gets much easier once we reached the forested road, which is easily perceivable. By following the signs “Roda di Vael” we finally reach the Tre Baite (three wooden mountain huts).

What a pity that today the sun does not show her face today and that fog blocks our view of the Val di Fassa. The snow-capped landscape is amazing, anyway. Now we walk back a short section of the path, until we come to see the signpost “Perlenweg” (pearl trail), which we follow up to the altitude of the Masaré mountain hut. From this point we descent along the blue slope until we reach the path taking us back to the pass. The last section of the track follows the asphalt road.
