South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace

Every year at the end of August, the Horseshoe Tour in the Val Sarentino valley becomes the venue for an extreme mountain run

The extreme mountain run South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace, one of the most demanding mountain runs in the region, requires the maximum from every runner. One of the most impressive places was chosen as the venue: The Hufeisentour (Horseshoe Tour), a high route across the Sarentino Alps. The demands are high, the nature breathtaking, and the event green: A green event is one that is planned and implemented in a sustainable manner according to environmentally friendly criteria.

There are four routes, although the St. Oswald Promenade in Bolzano has to be omitted in these years due to a rockfall in early 2021 and replaced by trail no. 2. From Bolzano, the Ultra Skyrace leads to the Renon high plateau, over the Forcella Sarentina to the 2,311 m high Santa Croce di Lazfons, to the Pennes Pass, over the 2,590 m high Gerölljoch ridge to the so-called "Stone Men", to San Genesio, and back to Bolzano. The less extreme routes run on partial sections. The prize-giving ceremony takes place on Sunday on the Talvera Meadows in Bolzano.
