South Tyrol offers a variety of circular hikes with pleasant refreshment stops along the way
It does not always have to be a summit: A tour around a mountain massif like the Sassolungo and the Sasso Piatto, or a circular hike around one of South Tyrol's numerous lakes - such as the Vernago Reservoir in the Val Senales, Lake Valdurna in the upper Val Sarentino, or Lake Anterselva, pictured here - can become a memorable experience for families and groups.
Other destinations include knights' castles on the Three Castles Walk in Appiano on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, and the Earth Pyramids on the Pyramid Trail in Collepietra. The advantage of a circular hike is that the path leads back to the starting point in a loop. When the route out is not the same as the route back, the entire walk becomes more varied and diverse.
